LOCHEE UNITED dropped their first points of the season and had to dig out a late equaliser to earn a point after finishing the match with 10 men. Gary Robertson fired FORFAR WEST END into the lead in 25 minutes, but Scott Mccomiskie cracked in an equaliser in 34 minutes. Two minutes after the restart, Jamie Montgomery regained the lead for the visitors, then Lochee’s Dougie Cameron picked up a second yellow card and was sent off. But Mccomiskie saved the day for the Bluebells with an equaliser with seven minutes to go.

BROUGHTY ATHLETIC slipped further behind Lochee United at the top of the table when a second-half John Farquharso­n goal saw them lose 1-0 at KIRRIE THISTLE.

Honours were even at Laing Park where CARNOUSTIE and TAYPORT shared the points in a 1-1 draw. After a goalless first half, the Gowfers took the lead through Ryan Dignan three minutes after the restart, but the Fifers levelled through Dayle Robertson in 72 minutes.

DOWNFIELD picked up three welcome points with a 3-1 victory over WHITBURN. The visitors took the lead, but the Spiders fought back well ane levelled through Ryan Hunter, then Bryan Duell and Nathan Scott, on his debut for the club, added two more.

THORNTON HIBS just got the better of GLENROTHES in a Fife derby, with Garry Thomson’s goal after just 15 minutes proving to be the winner.

Liam Mcartney saved NORTH END’S blushes against FORFAR ALBION when his late winner gave the Dokens the points in a 2-1 victory. Mcartney had earlier given the Dokens the lead, but Albion shocked them with an equaliser.

BATHGATE were 3-0 winners over STONEYBURN, with Darren Dalrymple, Ryan Burns and Jordan Duncan on target for the Jags.

In the North Region, MONTROSE ROSELEA won 5-1 at ABERDEEN UNIVERSITY in the first round of the Inter Regional Cup, thanks mainly to a hattrick from Kane Hester. Aitken and Archer also netted for the visitors.
