Burial corridors could be created alongside roads and railyways. Do you have any special burial requests?
Not sure everyone would like the idea of their loved one resting at the side of the hard shoulder. Not a concern for me – I am leaving my body to science.
Judi Martin, Aberdeenshire
I appreciate that available space is becoming a problem in cemeteries and graveyards but I can only imagine the chaos caused attending an interment or visiting the grave of someone interred at a roadside.
Lorna Smith, North Yorkshire
Is there no dignity now in death? What is wrong with a system that has survived for centuries...what next? Buried in public parks or sports stadiums?
James Walker, Glenrothes
I’m all for woodland burials. I fear burials alongside busy roads would be a health and safety risk with the amount of vehicles on our roads.
Gary Hopton, Fife
Who wants to walk along a country footpath that has bodies buried under it. Just awful!
Margaret Gibb, Fife
Perhaps it is time to think of alternatives to the traditional cemetery. There must be plenty of green corridors which could be used. I am not against this.
Allison Scotland, Roxburghshire
I advocate more cremations.
David Hillerby, Durham
I think it’s bloody daft. How are you going to get coffins to the burial spots?
Davie Kerr, Lochaber
Roads and railways are subject to maintenance. What’s to stop them digging up bodies?
Dawn Nelson, Dunfermline
How can you spend some peaceful time with trains and vehicles racing past?
James Plenderleith, Edinburgh
