Former Aberdeen, Wigan, Dundee United star Fraser signed for Cove Rangers.

The 26-year-old, who has been without a club since leaving United in the summer, has put pen to paper on a deal until January with the SPFL newcomers.

Paul Hartley’s side are aiming for a rapid rise through the leagues, and the Cove gaffer reckons Fyvie’s signing stands as a clear signal of intent.

“It’s a brilliant signing for us and I would like to thank the chairman and the rest of the directors for getting it completed,” said Hartley.

“Fraser is a quality player with vast experience and his arrival gives everyone at the club a massive boost.

“I know Fraser well from our time together at Aberdeen and he’s still well capable of playing in the Premier League, so I appreciate him agreeing to play in League Two with us.

“The next six months will give Fraser the opportunity to start enjoying his football again and will definitely aid us as we attempt to establish Cove Rangers in the SPFL.”

Fyvie became Aberdeen’s youngest ever player when he made his debut aged 16 in 2009, then the top league’s youngest ever scorer with a goal against Hearts in January 2010.

Having made big waves in Scotland, he was lured to England by Wigan Athletic after making just 56 appearances for the Dons.

Fyvie claimed an FA Cup winners medal in 2013 by virtue of being an unused substitute as the Latics shocked Manchester City at Wembley.

But, following loan spells at Yeovil Town and Shrewsbury Town, he returned to Scotland with Hibs in 2015, where he added a Scottish Cup medal to his collection.

The following year Fyvie helped Hibs to promotion back into the Premiership, but he opted to remain in the Championship with Dundee United, where he spent two injury-hit campaigns before being released at the end of last season. Hibs and Fyvie has
