Stevie Crawford guided Dunfermline to their first win since the end of July while managerless Partick were cast adrift at the bottom of the Championship.

It was nine years almost to the day when the Pars last enjoyed a league win at Firhill, and they ended that run in emphatic fashion against pitiful Jags, who sacked Gary Caldwell last week.

The Pars boss said: “To a man, I thought we were excellent. It was a strange one as Gary lost his job and we were not sure of the reaction we were going to get.

“But the boys were very professional and created chances, scored goals and managed to get a clean sheet.”

Veteran striker Kenny Miller, Academy coach Scott Allison and chief executive Gerry Britton took charge for Thistle, who face Celtic in a daunting League Cup last-eight clash on Wednesday.

Strikes from Kevin Nisbet and Ryan Dow, and a long-range effort from Kyle Turner, ended Pars’ long winless run.

The Fifers edged ahead in 23 minutes when Aaron Comrie drilled the ball in from the right for ex-jag Nisbet to side-foot home.

Eight minutes later, Dow burst through, unchallenged, before clipping a crisp, low drive beyond Scott Fox.

The points were wrapped up four minutes after the interval. Substitute Lewis Mccann had his shot blocked and the ball broke to Turner, who lashed in a deflected 20-yard shot.

Jags caretaker boss Britton said: “We need the right individual to come in and work with the squad we’ve got and then quickly identify if there are any changes that have to be made in the January window.

“If it’s not done by Wednesday, we’ll get the steel helmets out for the Parkhead dugout.

“The ownership issue of the club is moving forward very slowly. The supporters are obviously concerned about a potential change.”
