How they played

- By Sean Hamilton

CHRIS MAXWELL (6)

Spilled the corner kick that led to Celtic’s fourth goal, but there was little the Preston North End loanee could have done about any of their other strikes.

TOM JAMES (6)

Found himself restricted to a defensive shift. Marshalling the pace of Bolingoli, Elyounoussi and Hayes is a big ask – and it occupied James completely.

ADAM JACKSON (7)

Matched Edouard for physicality but had no answer when the Celtic man ran off his shoulder. Nevertheless, he was strong in the challenge throughout.

PAUL HANLON (6)

Escaped punishment for a clear handball in his own box just before Celtic took the lead. The shift was a tough one, but the Hibs skipper never shirked a challenge.

LEWIS STEVENSON (6)

Having been left to toil against Frimpong’s pace by those ahead of him, he struggled to impose himself going forward. A testing night for the Hibees man.

MELKER HALLBERG (6)

Capitalised ruthlessly on a rare Celtic defensive lapse to notch Hibs’ first but, bar a lively spell after Kamberi’s goal, was dug in ahead of Hibs’ centre-halves.

JOSH VELA (4)

The first half largely passed him by and he was replaced at the break. (FLORIAN KAMBERI 45, 5 – Notched with a superb header 12 minutes after coming on.)

STEVIE MALLAN (4)

Fired just over with the score at 4-2 to Celtic but found time on the ball severely restricted.

SCOTT ALLAN (5)

Hibs’ frustrating creative talisman was too often tentative in the challenge and wasteful in possession.

DARYL HORGAN (5)

Came close to a stunning opener but his attacking instincts were curbed as Celtic took control. ( VYKINTAS SLIVKA 68, 4 – Gave Hibs drive in midfield.)

CHRISTIAN DOIDGE (4)

Collected an early booking and was never as physical thereon. (MARTIN BOYLE 76, 3 – His introduction was greeted warmly.)
