Kevin Nisbet continued his redhot scoring form, bagging a brace as his Dunfermline side recorded their fifth home league win on the bounce.

Nisbet’s manager, Stevie Crawford, gushed: “To get nine points out of the three games this week, we are delighted.

“Credit to the boys, I thought we were excellent again today, and should have been more goals up.

“Credit Morton, they came at us and made it uncomfortable, but it is pleasing we managed to see it out where maybe earlier in the season we would have folded.

“Kevin knows he can score goals at this level and if you ask his team-mates, they have a belief that he has goals in him and that feeds throughout.”

Dunfermline were the better team from the start, and they took a deserved lead 20 minutes in, albeit with a touch of dubiety.

There were no arguments about the decision to award a penalty after Peter Grant had handled in the box, but initially Danny Rogers saved Nisbet’s effort only to see the ref order a retake, Rogers apoplectic to have been adjudged to have moved off his line early.

Nisbet made no mistake with the retake.

The hosts continued to dominate but had to wait until after the restart to double their advantage.

The visitors were the masters of their own downfall after Rogers saved another Nisbet effort, as Grant then booted the ball out of the keeper’s hands only to have it rebound off Kiltie into the empty net.

Morton then found a way back into the game with their first shot on target on the hour mark, two substitutes combining as Aidan Nesbitt found Reece Lyon on the edge of the box.

Lyon, with his first touch of the game, brilliantly curled it in from 20 yards.

Morton were on the ascendency now but as a result gaps were forming at the back and the Pars were able to exploit them.

Nisbet wrapped the game up on 84 minutes as Ryan Dow raced away from a cleared Morton corner, feeding in the prolific marksman, who expertly found the bottom corner to seal the points.
