My dogs just didn’t come back Woman hurt in blade attack
Georgie Bell believes her dogs Ruby and Beetle were stolen. She said the pair of border terriers, worth £700, were snatched when she was out walking them near Jedburgh last December.
Police are now investigating but she said it took almost a year for officers to issue a crime reference number.
She said: “When we reported them stolen the police said they don’t chase missing dogs. I understand that – there was no hard evidencevidence they were picked upp.
“They were wwith me on a festive walk. I could hear them barking. Tthen it went quiet.
“They didn’t come back. “Recently thee police have been moore helpful. Six weeks ago wwe got a crime reference number.”
Georgie has a Facebook group dedicated to finding Ruby and Beettle with more than 14,000 meembers. But her three childrren have been badly afffected by th e dogs’ disapppearance.
She said: “Onne of my children was buullied at school because of the online campaiggn.
“All they wannted for Christmas was their dogs back.”
Supporters off the search have puut up a £20,000 rewaard for the return of the dogs. Georgie said: “People have said I shoould replace Ruby anda Beetle and moove on, but those dogs were my world.”
A woman is in hospital after being attacked with a “bladed weapon” in South Lanarkshire.
The 24-year-old was approached by a man and a woman on Kingarth Street, Hamilton, at 3.30am yesterday.
She sustained a serious injury to her face.
Detective Constable Craig Jolly said: “I would ask anyone with dash-cam footage from the area at the time to check back.”
