A challenge to be met, not to be feared

-

sandwiched between the two Leverkusen ties plus a tricky trip to Dingwall today, Rangers have a tasty- looking schedule ahead of them.

Again, Jack is adamant he and his Light Blues team-mates can take it in their stride.

“When you play at club like Rangers, there is always pressure,” said the former Aberdeen man.

“Every time you go on the park there is an expectation and demand.

“There is pressure in every game and we have to live with it. It is what we are paid to do.

“Of course, it has been frustrating to go from the

Braga win to losing domestically.

“We have dropped below the standard we have set, and it is important we get back to it as soon as possible.”

Rangers’ manager Steven Gerrard has spoken of the need to get back to the basics of hard work and application. It is sentiment Jack agrees with.

“You sometimes overthink things, and after games, you are sitting wondering why that’s happened or whatever,” Jack went on.

“We just have to stick together and work hard. I’m sure it will change.

“The European success shows that when the mindset is right, and when everyone buys into the game plan and are on the same page, that’s what we can produce.

“We can give that type of performance against Braga. But then in the next two games, we just switch off and make errors.

“We were nervous and I don’t know why. But we just have to work hard and I’m sure it will change.”

Until then, the 28- year- old is urging supporters to be patient.

“The fans are unhappy and they are hurting. As players, we are the same,” said Jack.

“We need them to stick with us and I’m sure they will.

“No matter where we go during the season, they take their allocation and get behind the team.

“It is important we step up and start putting in performances on the pitch.

“In terms of the Leverkusen tie, our home record in Europe gives us confidence.

“At the same time, though, we are playing against top-class opposition who have been in the Champions League.

“We know how difficult it will be. But it is a chance to go and get a positive result.”
