Cove march on but ominous for Brechin

-

Brechin – Scott (62, pen 90)

Cove’s win not only moved them closer to the title, but heightened fears that Brechin could fall out of the relegation trapdoor.

A foul by Alex Petkov on Mitch Megginson in the box led to the Cove captain claiming his 24th goal of the season when he converted the spot-kick.

Megginson beat Lewis Mcminn for a second time on 48 minutes after Daniel Higgins squared the ball.

It was 3-0 six minutes later, this time Jamie Masson scoring, hitting his shot home from Megginson’s lay-off.

Brechin pulled one back on 62 minutes. Martin “Jimmy” Scott, returning to the Balmoral Stadium, found the top left corner from a Sean Mcintosh cross.

Brechin got a penalty after some wrestling between Daniel Higgins and Scott, the latter netting from 12 yards.
