The Sunday Post (Dundee)

Rough times? No, things are going swimmingly, thanks...

Amiracle happened this week. I bought a swimsuit online – and it fitted like a glove. It’s a small victory but, as any women over the age of 20 will testify, this is the shopping equivalent of winning the lottery.

OK, not a practical purchase given the fact we aren’t allowed to visit the local pool, let alone jet off on holiday. But when I tried on my latest find (from the Swedish fashion brand Weekday.com, since you ask) I felt my mood lift.

Buying stuff online has become one of my guilty pleasures during lockdown. Floaty skirts and dresses, labels still attached, hang in my wardrobe, waiting for this craziness to end. They remind me that, someday, I will eat a meal in my favourite restaurant again. I’ll enjoy cocktails with my best mates, without needing a webcam, and I will again feel the sand of distant shores between my toes.

Until then, we can all dream of better times ahead – and at P.S. we will try to keep you inspired.

In this week’s fashion pages (8&9) our style guru Wendy Rigg has chosen summer trends to tempt you, including a must-have garden accessory that’s totally tropical (my order is already in).

Outdoor spaces are a vital escape for many, which is why we’ve recently extended our gardens section. Turn to pages 22&23, where our trusted expert, Agnes Stevenson, is celebrating the abundance of wild flowers which are thriving thanks to lockdown.

And in health (pages 26&27) we have tips for staying on an even keel, whatever life throws at you.

It’s true, we can weather this storm together. We might just need a bigger boat – and the perfect swimsuit.
