Retailer irons out washer problem

-

Arthur Farman felt like he was being put through the wringer trying to get his faulty washing machine replaced.

The Beko model he bought from Currys 10 years ago kept breaking down despite having had a number of repairs.

The company agreed to supply him with a new machine via its insurance scheme but trying to get it delivered was anything but plain sailing.

“There were a few unsuccessful attempts to deliver a replacement,” said Arthur, from Aberdeen.

“Because my wife and I are pensioners, the delivery men firstly said because of Covid-19 they could only drop the machine at the door – but this was no use as the old one also needed to be removed and the new one installed.”

Arthur said another attempted delivery was abandoned when staff turned up without proper personal protective equipment, which meant they also couldn’t come into the house.

“The service at the Aberdeen branch of Currys was first-class but the situation with getting the new machine delivered and installed was very frustrating,” he said.

Arthur finally became tired of trying to have the issue resolved himself and contacted Raw Deal for advice and support.

The Farmans are delighted that a new Beko washing machine has finally been delivered and fitted and the old one removed.

Arthur said. “Currys were very apologetic and said they are also sending us £130 as a gesture of goodwill.”
