“The modern F1 driver has loads of gadgets at his fingertips, but I think all the electronics are a waste of money.
“I don’t agree with all this technology inside the car, starting with the DRS (Drag Reduction System) which makes it too simple to make a passing move.
“In my day, any mistake could cost dearly, even when it was made in free practice on Friday.
“Nowadays, drivers can focus exclusively on driving, whereas once we had to also worry also about changing gear and managing the clutch.
“It seems no-one wants pain today. But I believe nothing truly satisfying is achieved without pain.”
