What the celebs are talking about this week

“I want to dedicate this award to all of my brothers out there, all of my sisters out there, inspiring me, marching and fighting for change.”

On winning the humanitarian accolade at last week’s virtual BET Awards, which honoured black excellence in entertainment and sports, R&B superstar Beyonce used her acceptance speech to highlight the Black Lives Matter movement. As always, Bey, you’re an inspiration to us all.

“I hope new mums can look at me and see, whether you’ve lost, maintained or gained weight, toned up or still have a saggy belly, it’s so far down the list of what’s important. Your baby loves you no matter what.” Former Eastenders actress Melissa Suffield, who played Lucy Beale in the BBC soap, shows she has her priorities straight after becoming a mum just before lockdown.

“It’s completely and utterly unknown and I think there possibly could be a slight anxiety from people who don’t want to be in a big crowd if they are vulnerable or have had previous health issues.”

Speaking about the future of gigs and festivals after the coronavirus outbreak, DJ and TV presenter Fearne Cotton admitted the music industry could look very different in years to come. Hopefully we’ll see you at Glasto 2021, Fearne.

“Let’s hope there’s not a second wave from people at the beach because I want to get married, folks.”

Kaiser Chiefs front man Ricky Wilson reveals his plans to wed fiance Grace Zito in September with just 30 guests. Good show, Ricky. We would all love a lavish affair but, while the after-party is always good, it’s the commitment that means the most and hopefully Ricky and Grace will one day get to throw a bigger bash for their Ruby anniversary.

“Dads reach out to sons, sons reach out to dads, your brothers, your mates, because the last three months, of course, have been very tough for everybody.”

JLS singer Marvin Humes says we should try to show compassion for our nearest and dearest after the stress of lockdown. We hear you, Marvin, it has been a long, long few months.
