Kate Humble and Dan Snow mark 80 years since a significant point in the Second World War, when the RAF defended the country from the air. They examine three key dates in the fight to stop a Nazi invasion, beginning with 15 August, 1940. The episode draws on the diary of Joan Fanshawe, a 19-yearold member of the Women’s Auxiliary Air Force, who tracked the ensuing battle as it happened.
