Andreas Brehme (above) converted c a penalty after 85 8 minutes.

Italy beat Bobby Robson’s England 2-1 to take third place. Roberto Baggio and Toto Schillaci scored, with David Platt replying for England.

50 YEARS AGO

Rangers manager Willie Waddell returned to work at Ibrox for a meeting with his new backroom staff.

Coaches Jock Wallace (above) and Stan Anderson, along with physio Tommy Craig, were in talks to establish training routines.

Striker Jim Blair, Hibs’ new signing from St Mirren, had his first taste of full-time training with the Easter Road club.
