As cinemas get ready to reopen later in the summer, what is your best trip to the flicks?

My father was a society wedding photographer. During a newsreel he stood up and shouted out: “That’s me!” I cringed in embarrassment. It was the wedding of one of Churchill’s daughters and my father was hit by a bus! Not hurt but his trousers were ruined.

Elizabeth O’regan

When I was about 16, I went to see Psycho with a group of friends, one of whom touched the shoulder of a female friend just as the rocking chair is turned. She jumped a foot in the air.

Brian Wyles

Going to see The Sound Of Music with my mum in 1965. It was the first time I’d been to the cinema.

Judi Martin

To see Star Wars with my daughter. Loved it. Still do.

Jacqui Gauld

Years ago on holiday in Wales, when my sons were young, we saw The Towering Inferno. Each time it comes on TV I remember being in Rhyl.

Margaret Brown

Watership Down, when I was wee. Terrifying. I started off at the end of the row and pretty soon ended up on Auntie Jacqui’s lap.

Rhonda Hill

My mother worked as an ice cream lady in the 50s. We got in for nothing. Calamity Jane is my all-time favourite.
