I hope Peter wins but I’ve been too busy baking to watchhimbake

Great British Bake-off star Flora Shedden wished fellow Scot Peter Sawkins good luck in the final yesterday – although she’ll be too busy to tune in.

Flora, who now has her hands full running two shops, backed Edinburgh-based

Peter in Tuesday’s climax to the

Channel 4 series.

Despite her good wishes,

Flora, a star of the show five years ago, admitted the thought of watching the programme brings back a feeling of the stress of being involved herself.

Flora said: “I wish Peter all the best in the final although I must admit I have not watched the series. I haven’t really watched the programme at all since the series I was in, not that I watched too much of that one either. There just hasn’t been the time really and thinking about it does bring back a bit of stress about being involved in it all. Having said that, I would wish Peter the very best of luck for the final.”

Meanwhile, Peter, 20, has admitted being delighted to be locked down earlier this year – as it gave him the perfect cover to work on his cake-making skills.

He kept his appearance on the show a secret using lockdown to hide the amount of time he was spending practising showstoppers. “There were moments that were difficult to keep Bake Off a secret from friends,” he said. “If anyone asked what I was up to during lockdown I would say that I was baking a lot, that’s not a lie!

“A lot of friends have joked about saying that I make some ‘Bake Off quality bakes’ and should apply for the show,” said Peter. “This was the second time that I applied and I’m so glad that I did. I hope my friends are going to be really excited when they see me in the tent.”
