Morecambe advance after Stockton brace

Morecambe booked their place in the third round for the first time in 18 seasons with a 4-2 extra time victory over Solihulll Moors.

Kyle Hudlin gave the Moors the lead, before two goals from Cole Stockton put Morecambe ahead.

Jordan Cranston equalised to set up extra time, but John O’sullivan’s header put the home side back on the front foot.

The win was sealed after 109 minutes when Aaron Wildig’s corner was turned into his own net by Mitch Hancox.

Blackpool denied 10-man Harrogate a first appearance in the third round with an emphatic 4-0 win at Wetherby Road.

Harrogate-born Luke Garbutt opened the scoring for the visitors early in the second half and then provided an assist for Grant Ward to double the advantage, before late efforts from Jordan Gabriel and Dan Kemp wrapped up matters.

Danny Rowe scored a superb winner as in-form Oldham earned their place in the third round with a deserved 2-1 win at League Two rivals Bradford.

Chorley FC, who currently play in the sixth tier of the English football pyramid, impressive­ly saw off League One outfit Peterborou­gh United 2-1, thanks to goals from Connor Hall and Mike Calveley. Jack Taylor had put Peterborou­gh ahead in the second minute.

Salford’s dreams of reaching the third round for the first time in their history were ruined as they fell 3- 0 to Newport at Rodney Parade.

Jamie Proctor, Padraig Amond and Saikou Janneh got the goals for the League Two side.

Exeter reached the third round following a 3-2 victory at Gillingham.

Vadaine Oliver put the hosts ahead, Nicky Law equalised, and Joel Randall scored twice in five minutes to give Exeter a two-goal lead.

Dominic Samuel’s goal set up a nervy finale with 10 minutes remaining.

George Lloyd’s extra- time header steered Cheltenham into the third round with a 2-1 win over Crewe.

Plymouth beat Lincoln 2- 0 at Home Park thanks to goals from Luke Jephcott and Ben Reeves.

Elsewhere, Tom Naylor scored a contender for goal of the second round as League One Portsmouth cruised to a 6- 1 win over National League King’s Lynn Town.
