Dyer‘won’t have a problem’ if the board sack him

- By Ewing Grahame SPORT@SUNDAYPOST.COM

K ilmar nock manager Alex Dyer insisted he won’t walk away from the Ayrshire club following their fifth successive defeat – but he also insisted there would be no hard feelings if chairman Billy Bowie r e m ov e d him from his position.

“We have to regroup and go again until someone tells you otherwise,” he said.

“Have I the support of the board? Of course I have. I’ve got no problem.

“The board are a good board. If they turn around tomorrow and say, ‘ It’s time’, I will shake their hands and I will move on: it’s not a problem.

“T h e re wi l l be no animosity, there will be no hatred, because they have always been good to me since I have come here.

“I know where I’m from and I know what I’ve got and I’m lucky enough to be at a good football club with good people. So it’s not a problem.

“The players are working hard, they are trying their best. We got sucker- punched today and that’s life. It’s just the way it is.

“We have to dig in, stay together and work hard until someone says you can’t work hard any more together.

“If we had won today or got a point we would have gone home happy and been a bit more confident going into Wednesday’s game. It wasn’t to be, but we have to start again in Wednesday.

“I will give them a day off, let them have some time with their family and we will come in on Monday and train and prepare ourselves. And that’s all we can do.”

Dyer believes his players deserved to take something f rom the game yesterday.

“It’s difficult to take – we were in the game and we would have taken a point, given the run we are on,” he added.

“But wasn’t to be as they’ve scored with the last kick of the game and it’s a sickener for myself and the players.

“We have to dig in, work hard and try to change things ourselves because nobody else is going to change it for us.

“We turn it around by keeping doing what we are doing and working hard.

“It’s about having the belief and the confidence that it will change. It’s the same bunch of players who have had good times and we need to find it again.

“With my help and the help of the staff they will find it.”
