DUNDEE 3 Sow (13, 21, 54)

James Mcpake praised his Dundee side after a comfortable Boxing Day victory at Palmerston.

The Dens Park men were in control of the contest from the off and a hat-trick from Osman Sow made sure the visitors made it four league matches unbeaten.

Mcpake hailed his troops, especially goalscorer Sow and midfielder Charlie Adam – who suffered a horrible week after the sad passing of his mum Ellie.

He said: “It’s a massive three points for us. I think it is important after last week that we got the performance and the result.

“We thoroughly deserved to win the game and were really comfortable in tough conditions on a tough pitch.

“I’m delighted for Osman, over the last four weeks he’s been brilliant. Everybody knows he’s such a good player and we hoped he’d get to the Osman Sow that played at Hearts and MK Dons.

“Since the day Charlie walked in the door here, he’s been nothing but great off and on the pitch.

“He brings motivation to the dressing room and ups our standards on the pitch.

“Everybody talks about having good people join the dressing room and Charlie fits that bill.

“For the week he’s had there’s two people up there who’ll be very proud of him.”

The visitors had control of the contest from the off and nearly went ahead when Adam saw his curling 30-yard free kick saved by Rohan Ferguson.

Dundee would find the breakthrough with their next attack when Adam’s corner found Sow in the box and nodded home with ease on 13 minutes.

Eight minutes later, the forward grabbed a second and was helped by dreadful Queens defending on 21 minutes.

Gregor Buchanan’s slack back pass let Danny Mullen in and squared to Sow who slotted into an empty net at the second time of asking.

Dundee continued to pressure the hosts in the second period and got their reward as they wrapped up the tie on 54 minutes.

Liam Fontaine’s throw-in was flicked on by Mullen and tapped home by Sow to claim his first hattrick in Scottish football.

Queens, though, managed to grab a late consolation with six minutes remaining when Connor Shields’ long effort strike caught the wind which left Dens keeper Jack Hamilton no chance.
