The Adam Buxton Podcast

- Apple Podcasts

Described as the “best podcast episode ever”, the recent appearance by Sir Paul Mccartney on The Adam Buxton Podcast is a must.

The former Beatle dropped in to chat and provided the comedian and listeners with half-a century’s worth of anecdotes from his time as one of the world’s biggest rock ’n’ roll stars.

No matter if you’ve never heard any of the previous 143 episodes of Adam’s show, this is one you can drop into to hear a cracking interview from a man who rarely grants them.

You might even dip into the rest of the back catalogue as a result.

Hear Sir Paul talk about the coolest person he’s ever met. It’s not John Lennon, Bob Dylan or Mick Jagger.

It is, in fact, his wife, Nancy... closely followed by The King.

“I have met Elvis Presley, who was darn cool,” chirrups Paul. “This was pre-las Vegas and the rhinestone suits. This was when he was in Beverly Hills, so he was really cool!”

Mccartney recalls how Elvis would send his ostentatious Cadillac out on tour for people to gawk at, and it was a move which inspired The Beatles.

“He didn’t go with it, he just sent it out!” laughs Paul.“and people would flock to see Elvis’ Cadillac.

“And then it would go to the next tour and those people would flock to see it, too.”

He also spoke about what shows he likes, which are less Maxwell’s Silver Hammer and more, well, Homes Under The Hammer.

“What happens is I go to the gym most mornings and there’s always a TV programme on and Homes Under The Hammer is normally what’s on at the time I go, so I watch that.”

Macca also finds time to talk about his new record, Mccartney III, which was released last month.
