HOW THEY PLAYED

- By Danny Stewart

ALLAN MCGREGOR 9

Even Celtic supporters would agree keeper is a position in which they are outmatched by their rivals and Mcgregor was Goramesque here.

JAMES TAVERNIER 7

Quiet by his standards, concentrating more on his defensive duties than pushing forward. That said, he supplied a great ball in at the goal.

CONNOR GOLDSON 7

Goldson versus Edouard was seen as a key battle and the Rangers stopper shut down his opponent.

LEON BALOGUN 7

Frank in admitting he had not been keen enough in the first 45. Improved afterwards, though his job was easier by Celtic switching to just one up top.

BORNA BARISIC 6

Had his hands more than full trying to stop Frimpong’s forward darts so was less of an attacking force than usual.

STEVEN DAVIS 6

Got swamped in the first half as Celtic pushed but stayed calm and kept doing the right things.

GLEN KAMARA 7

Good in the first half, and effective in the second, he remains one of Rangers most consistent performers.

JOE ARIBO 7

Was in the mix at the goal and overall was one of his team’s best with great flashes of skill. (BRANDON BARKER, 90, 5) Cameo turn for the winger.

RYAN KENT 8

Was a live wire with some eyecatching runs at the Celtic defence. (BUNGANI ZUNGU 86, 5)

KEMAR ROOFE 5

Was pretty quiet and it was no great surprise when he did not return after the break. (IANIS HAGI 46, 7. Made a difference to his team)

ALFREDO MORELOS 6

The Colombian has never scored in an Old Firm derby and he did not really look like breaking the sequence. (CEDRIC ITTEN, 77, 6. Looked sharp)

Unused subs – JON MCLAUGHLIN, CALVIN BASSEY, FILIP HELANDER, JERMAIN DEFOE, BONGANI ZUNGU, NATHAN PATTERSON.

MINS

Bitton’s dismissal made a huge difference to this game. It will be rued by the Israeli for weeks and months to come.
