Put down the crisps! Let’s step up to the challenge of a new year

- EDITOR, JAY NE SAVVA JSAVVA@DCTMEDIA.CO.UK

Step away from the Pringles, folks, it’s time to start your January reboot. After the loop-the-loop that was 2020, the idea of change seems somehow less daunting this year. So this week’s P.S. is all about embracing the new, starting with our cover stars Sally Reid and Jordan Young who are back as PC Sarah Fletcher and PC Jack Mclaren in an all-new series of Scot Squad.

Sally and Jordan have been good friends for over 20 years and on pages 6&7 they talk about the chemistry they share on and off screen, as well as what it was like trying to be funny while filming their final scenes just days before lockdown.

Of course, the gyms are still closed so we have an added excuse to delay that new exercise regime but that doesn’t mean you can’t invest in some lovely new workout wear. As our style guru Wendy Rigg says, “dressing with intention is the first step”, so turn to pages 8&9 for her fitness fashion special.

If you are tempted to try Veganuary or Dry January this year, our food and drink section (pages 12&13) has tips from the masters of plant-based cooking, the BOSH! boys, and we also try out non-alcoholic beers.

And if you are in need of extra inspiration, we have selected the best self-help books on everything from diet to ageing better, on pages 34&35.

There’s no denying Covid-19 has been a scary ride and we are not out of the woods yet but, with the hope the new vaccine brings, we are starting to see the trees.

What better time to turn over a new leaf? Have a good week.
