KELTY HEARTS 2

-

Austin (25), Higginbotham (pen 37)

STRANRAER 3

Orr (48), Robertson (63), Paton (pen 90+4)

Stranraer staged a remarkable recovery and stormed into the next round thanks to a stoppage-time penalty after coming back from two goals down.

The Maroons looked to have sealed it when they went in at half-time with a 2-0 lead.

In the match switched to Stark’s Park, Kirkcaldy, Michael Tidser had a great chance to put Kelty ahead on 20 minutes when his drive from 20 yards was stopped by goalkeeper Greg Fleming.

Then, in the 25th minute, Nathan Austin put the Fife side ahead with a great left-foot drive into the top corner of the net.

Five minutes later, Darryl Duffy had Stranraer’s first real chance, but his shot from the edge of the 18-yard box was blocked.

Kelty got back on the attack and Kallum Higginbotham saw his shot saved on 34 minutes.

Then, three minutes later, Kelty were 2-0 up when Scott Robertson brought down Nathan Austin in the box and Higginbotham made no mistake from the penalty spot.

It was a different story after the interval and, within three minutes, the Blues were back in the game when Thomas Orr accepted a pass from Andy Stirling and fired home.

Barry Ferguson’s side bounced back and had a couple of chances, the best being a shot from Dylan Easton which just went over.

In the 63rd minute, Stranraer levelled when Scott Robertson headed in a cross from Andy Stirling – and it was game on.

But it was a dramatic penalty in the fourth minute of stoppage time that gave Stranraer victory.

James Hilton was brought down by Scott Hooper and Ruari Paton gave keeper Fleming no chance with his spot-kick.
