THE BIG QUESTIONS

-

Why was the 1921 Cup Final played at Celtic Park and not Hampden Park? – W

The game, between Partick Thistle and Rangers was won 1-0 by Thistle with a John Blair goal in front of 28,294 supporters, and is the only time the club have lifted the trophy.

It wasn’t until 1924/25 that Hampden became the permanent Cup Final venue. Before that Celtic Park, Ibrox and Hampden all regularly hosted the showpiece event.

Who were the three women in ZZ Top’s great trio of music videos for their hits, Gimme All Your Lovin’, Sharp Dressed Man and Legs. – C

The three tracks were on the band’s eighth studio album, Eliminator, released in 1983.

In the videos, three models played the roles of alter egos to ZZ Top’s Billy Gibbons, Frank Beard and Dusty Hill.

The women were Daniele Arnaud, who went on to become a professor of French in San Diego; Jeana Keough, who later became a real estate developer in California; and Kymberley Herrin, who had her own clothing company.

The album sold more than 1,200,000 copies in the UK alone.

I don’t mean just now, when we have Covid travel restrictions, but is it possible to have a holiday at the North Pole? – H

It is, but it’s pricey! For just under £25,000 you can book a berth on a nuclear-powered icebreaker ship on a 14-day trip from Helsinki in Finland to the Pole.

When you get there the ship has a helicopter and a hot air balloon offering spectacular sight-seeing trips of the vast expanse of the polar ice cap.
