Their full name is Venlose Voetbal Vereniging-venlo, which means “Venlose football association-venlos”.

This may sound like a silly question, but when my five-year-old daughter asked me as we hoed the garden, I was stumped for an answer. She asked: “What’s the earth made of?” She meant the soil, but I couldn’t tell her. – H

Soil is the thin layer of material covering much of the Earth’s surface and is generally a mix of tiny particles of eroded rocks, organic matter – dead plants and animals – air and water.

Soil formation is influenced by the actions of organisms, micro-organisms such as bacteria and fungi, burrowing insects, animals and humans. This breaks down the soil until it becomes organic matter, capable of supporting life

Who was Tarzan in the TV show of my youth? – S

Ron Ely played the eponymous hero in 57 episodes over two series in 1967 and ’68.

Before that, Ron had been in the movie, South Pacific, and had roles in many US TV shows such as The Aquanauts and Boris Karloff Presents.

When filming the Tarzan TV show and two spin-off movies, Ron would refuse to use a stunt double in his vineswinging or animal fights and was often injured.
