A teenage boy is fighting for his life in hospital after an attack in Glasgow.

The 15-year-old was seriously injured and was in a critical condition at Queen Elizabeth University Hospital.

Officers rushed to Thornliebank train station just after 11pm on Friday.

Eyewitnesses said a police helicopter with a spotlight was involved in the overnight manhunt.

Officers later arrested two people in connection with the attack.

Locals spoke of their shock on Facebook. Sandra Williamson said: “Terrible and horrific event.”

Police officers went door to door seeking witness statements, according to Kaishi Ramzan, who said: “Police came to my house and asked if I saw and heard any noise. It’s very horrible.”

Thornliebank train station was locked down by police for several hours yesterday morning, with services unable to stop, as the probe into the incident continued. Roads in the area were also cordoned off.

Police Scotland said in a statement: “Around 11.10pm on Friday, police received a report of a disturbance in Boydstone Road. Officers found a 15-year-old male seriously injured. He remains critical. Two people have been arrested in connection with the incident.”
