The list of guests to have appeared on this podcast in its first year is impressive, to say the least.

Annie Lennox, Sir Cliff Richard, Boney M, Gloria Estefan, Don Mclean, Ronan Keating, Lynyrd Skynyrd, Keane and The Temptations are just a few of the musical acts to have chatted to host, Tom Cridland.

In 10 months, there have been more than 300 episodes of the podcast. The idea behind the series is to feature cultural icons and public figures in candid and uncensored conversations about their views on current affairs and politics, as well as to find out how they achieved their business success and, in keeping with the title of the podcast, ask them about their favourite music.

It’s not just musical guests who have appeared so far. There’s been political commentary from the left and right, with the likes of Alastair Campbell, George Galloway,

Douglas Murray and Tucker Carlson all appearing, as well as actress and activist Rose Mcgowan and author Aubrey de Grey.

The back story to the podcast is just as intriguing – it was a potential lifesaver for Tom Cridland. He says starting the podcast helped him to recover from a binge-drinking addiction. At rock bottom, his drinking had escalated to the point where he was consuming 20 pints in single sessions, he appeared on national US television while drunk, and also sustained serious head injuries. His binge eating also led him to put on 30kg in excess weight.

Tom gave up alcohol in 2017 and has now turned his life around, in no small part thanks to the podcast.

A look at the list of talents shows he’s clearly doing something right, attracting some of the biggest names in popular culture from across the decades to share their stories with him.
