Alloa boss Peter Grant admitted he was unhappy with the outcome of the game at the Indodrill Stadium, saying: “I am very disappointed with the result. We dominated the play in the first half, and the boys did well to fight back after the Ayr goal.

“We had two penalty kick decisions go against us.

“But we will still be fighting for every point that we can get, and we will fight on.”

The home side dominated the opening minutes of the match and had chances from Cawley, Robertson and Innes Cameron all cleared from the goalmouth.

Against the run of play, the visitors opened the scoring in the 15th minute when Tom Walsh connected with a Luke Mccowan cross to fire the ball past Neil Parry in the home goal following a fast break from a defensive clearance.

The Wasps fought back, and Innes Cameron equalised in the 31st minute when he connected with a Scott Taggart cross and, from the centre of the box, fired an unstoppable shot past Viljami Sinisalo in the Ayr goal to give the home side the goal that their play deserved.

Within a minute of the start of the second half, the home side was in front. A long defensive clearance from Jon Robertson was headed clear by Jack Baird, but only as far as Lucas Williamson, who fired in a cracking volley from twenty-five yards out, beating Sinisalo in the Ayr goal.

The visitors equalized in the 76th minute when a howler of a mistake by Jon Roberson knocked the ball past Neil Parry into an open goal – Parry had come out of goal to clear a shot, and Robertson ran in and pushed the ball into his own net.

Ayr boss David Hopkins felt that his side had done enough to take the three points.

He said: “Alloa are a good side and we knew that we were in for a tough match. But we dug in and scored an outstanding goal.

“We should have been three up but Alloa came back and levelled then took the lead. We need to keep going and, although we played well, we will need to continue fight for the rest of the season for every point that we can get.”
