Bayern crowned champions then hit six goals

-

After nearest challengers RB LEIPZIG lost 3-2 to BORUSSIA DORTMUND, BAYERN MUNICH were crowned Bundesliga champions of Germany for the ninth season in a row.

Marco Reus opened the scoring for Dortmund, then England’s Jadon Sancho doubled the lead. Lukas Klostermann and Dani Olmo restored parity before Sancho hit the winner.

With the pressure firmly off, Bayern, playing later a g a i n s t BORU S S I A MO E N C H E N G L A D B AC H opened through Robert Lewandownski after two minutes. Thomas Mueller then made it 2- 0 on 23 minutes, and the game was all over as a contest as Lewandowski struck again 11 minutes on and Kingsley Coman hitting No. 4 just on the interval.

A Lewandowski penalty completed his hat-trick on 65 minutes before teammate Nianzou was sent off for bringing down Embolo. Leroy Sane made it 6-0 on 84 minutes.

Dortmund’s win lifted them to fourth spot and kept alive their chances of qualifying for the Champions League.

■ After their 0-0 draw at BARCELONA, ATLETICO MADRID remain two points clear at the top of La Liga. However, this share of the points now means rivals REAL MADRID now hold the advantage in the title race.

Real will move level on points with Atletico if they beat fourth- placed SEVILLA today, but would edge top spot because of their head-to-head record.

Barca struggled to break their visitors down and sit two points behind Atletico with three games remaining.

Home genius Lionel Messi looked the most likely player on the park to make something happen for his side and forced Jan Oblak into a diving save after a gliding run across the top of the box.

However, the visitors created the better chances in the first 45 minutes and former Liverpool striker Luis Suarez saw his strike well saved by Marc-andre ter Stegen at the near post.

■ Former Manchester United and Arsenal forward Alexis Sanchez scored twice as Italian champions INTER MILAN thrashed SAMPDORIA 5-1.

In their first match since being confirmed as the winners of Serie A for the first time in 11 years, Inter were 3- 1 up at half- time. Roberto Gagliardini opened the scoring for Antonio Conte’s side before Sanchez scored two in the space of 10 minutes. Andrea Pinamonti added a fourth before Lautaro Martinez’s penalty. Sampdoria’s goal came from Senegal winger Keita Balde.
