Secret to summer skin is to keep it moist and supple...here’s how

-

Summer is coming and sadly it looks as though most of us are going to miss that golden glow we usually get from warmer climes this year.

However, make-up artist Huda Okuonghae shares some top tips on how to cheat that summer shine.

“The aim is to achieve a healthy-looking complexion by keeping the skin looking plumped and adding colour and moisture,” she said.“a good skincare routine will be the most important part of this process, then you want to think of cream or liquid make-up products to achieve your beautiful summer look.”

Fight the powder

Huda recommends steering clear of powder products, which add texture to the skin, but can look unflattering in direct sunlight.

“To take any unwanted shine away use a pressed powder in the centre of the face only and make sure your powder contains hyaluronic acid for a non-drying finish,” she said. One of Huda’s favourites is By Terry Hyaluronic Pressed Hydra-powder.

Once you get your natural shine under control, it’s time to start adding some.

“Now on to the fun stuff,” Huda says.“start off with a tinted moisturiser or light coverage foundation, a shade or two warmer then your usual winter base.

“The next step is to add dimension and colour to the face. A cream bronzer is the perfect way to bring your face to life, focus the product on your cheeks, nose and temple, all the areas the sun would naturally tan.”

Huda suggests trying a product such as Huda Beauty Tantour to achieve this.

Looking blush

Now it’s time for the blush.

“This season’s must-have look is beautiful, rosy cheeks and, again, the best way to achieve this is with a creambased product.

“A good tip when applying cream blush would be to use the rounded end of a damp make-up sponge and press the product on the apples of your cheeks.

“Extend it up your cheekbones for an instant face

lift.” Huda recommends Fenty Beauty Cheeks Out.

Glow for it

Finally, it’s time to add that beautiful glow.

“A liquid hi-lighter gently applied with your fingers on the top of your cheekbones and tip of the nose is all you need,” Huda says.“try Charlotte Tilbury Light Wand.”

And don’t forget to keep your lips looking healthy and hydrated.

“Make sure you exfoliate, moisturise and add a pop of colour with a beautiful gloss – and you’re summer ready,” Huda says.
