Barry double as slick Buckie crush Colts

BUCKIE THISTLE won through to the next round of the Scottish Cup by beating CUMBERNAUL­D COLTS 4-1. Max Barry put them ahead early on and then added a second, with Urquhart getting a third before the turn. Although Colts pulled one back through Ewan Macpherson, Mcleod netted after 77 minutes to make it 4-1.

DALBEATTIE STAR turned a great second-half performanc­e to overturn a 2-0 half-time deficit and dump NEWTONGRAN­GE STAR 3-2. Grange went ahead in the third minute through Shaun Conlon after a defensive mistake and, in the 34th minute, they doubled their lead with a Liam Mcintosh strike. It was a different story after the interval and top scorer Russell Currie pulled them back into the game on 55 minutes and then Jack Gillan was sent off for the visitors for a second yellow. Dan Orsi got the goal of the game on the hour to make it 2-2. In the dying seconds, Connor Graham hit the winner. Dalbeattie now await Rothes. Newtongran­ge had six yellow cards and a sending-off, with the match ending in a stramash in the dugout areas and the referee had to separate the teams.

HADDINGTON ATHLETIC go through to the second round on penalties by a 5-4 margin after a 1-1 draw with Highland League side DEVERONVAL­E, who got a fourth-minute goal through Dane Ballard. Guy Mcgarrie equalised for Athletic and the game ended all-square at 90 minutes and went straight into penalties.

Another Highland side, FORMARTINE UNITED, made the long journey south and came away 5-1 winners over CUMNOCK JUNIORS.

LOTHIAN THISTLE booked their place in the second round with a 3-0 win over Lowland side EDINBURGH UNI. Errol Douglas, Neil Kemp and Louis Signorini hit the net for the East Premier side.

BROOMHILL got the better of EAST STIRLINGSH­IRE by the only goal of the game.

The BO’NESS v WICK ACADEMY game was was abandoned after a bad injury to the home side’s Zander Miller. Bo’ness were leading 4-2 at the time.
