First impressions
Roo’s Leap is an Australian-themed diner, and this is reflected by the Aboriginal art and bright pictures of the country lining the walls.
Service
Prompt, warm and friendly. The two members of staff who served us were both charming and keen to help.
Menu
“The Down Under Dining Experience” is how Roo’s Leap describes itself, and that is certainly what they offer. From burgers and wraps to steaks, sandwiches, fish and pasta, and plenty of vegetarian offers, there’s something to tempt everyone in a menu stretching to more than 50 options.
Taste
We arrived at lunchtime, but the aroma of the burgers from another table made us decide to try the evening menu. I went for the Aussie Burger – 8oz of prime Aberdeen Angus beef, with cheddar cheese, egg sunny-side up, grilled pineapple, bacon and a beetroot relish. It was more than fair dinkum, it was fabulous (£14.95). My co-pilot went for the Ultimate Teriyaki Chicken Burger – a chargrilled chicken breast topped with pineapple salsa, terikaki sauce and mozarella cheese, and claimed it was the best thing they had ever eaten! (£14.55)
Ambience
Aussies are famed for their “No worries” attitude, and that’s how it feels in the restaurant, completely laid-back. Kids are welcome until 7.30pm.
Value
At £36.10 for two monster burgers we struggled to finish (but we did!) and a soft drink and a pint of lager, I found this to be quite exceptional value. G’day!
