Four clear as Kelty keep up their unbeaten run

-

STENHOUSEMUIR 1 FORFAR 1

Forfar had looked sharp in the early stages of the game, going ahead in the fifth minute, though there was a touch of good fortune for the Loons as

Craig Thomson’s shot took a wicked deflection and looped over the home goalkeeper.

They continued to look the sharper team in the opening exchanges and Mark Gallagher tested David Wilson in the Stenhousemuir goal and he did well to parry the shot out.

In the second half, though, it was the home side who had the bulk of the play, with Euan O’reilly in particular looking dangerous.

Despite their best efforts, though, it appeared as if they wouldn’t be rewarded until captain Sean Crighton headed home an Adam Brown corner in stoppage time.

They almost snatched a winner through the same player when Crighton had a header cleared off the line with almost the last touch of the ball.

A share of the spoils was a fair result, but Forfar were left to ruminate on the fact that they have drawn five games now after being in the lead in all of them.

STRANRAER 1 ALBION ROV 0

The hosts started the game promisingly and were denied by the woodwork in the opening 10 minutes. Craig Ross’ deflected shot reached Matty Yates and his header looped over Cameron Binnie, only to bounce off the bar before hitting the woodwork again and dropping over.

Midway through the first half, Stranraer had the ball in the back of the net through Anton Brady before the offside flag ruled it out.

The best chance for the visitors came from the boot of former Stranraer man David Wilson. He strode forward unmarked, but his strike from fully 30 yards flew just past the post.

Finally, the breakthrough came on 35 minutes and Yates was again involved. His ball cut open the visiting defence and Woods raced through on goal, rounded Binnie and smashed home from a tight angle.

There were fewer chances after the interval, but again Stranraer still had the better of the opportunities.

As time was running out, substitute Ruaridh Langan should have wrapped the game up. Josh Walker teed up Langan, but, from eight yards, he could only scuff his shot across goal.
