HOW THEY PLAYED

-

ZANDER CLARK (7)

The big goalie was always ready to come out and punch crosses away or grab the ball. Was decisive.

JAMES BROWN (7)

Had his work cut out trying to tame the twinkle toes of Jota on the left wing. Stuck to the task. (Eetu Vertainen 80, 5. Bolstered the attack).

LIAM GORDON (8)

The skipper never stopped organising the men around him and came up with important tackles and blocks.

JAMIE MCCART (7)

Never looked flustered despite the waves of Celtic attacks coming his game for most of the game.

SHAUN ROONEY (7)

Usual energetic shift up and down the right of the pitch. Couldn’t come up with one of his famous back-post goals. (Lars Dendoncker 90, 5).

DAVID WOTHERSPOON (7)

Didn’t get forward as much as he would have liked because stopping Celtic was the main priority. Stretchered off with a nasty injury. (Ali Crawford 71, 6. The former Hamilton man was sharp and hard to pin down)

MURRAY DAVIDSON (7)

Prowled the centre of the pitch, never straying too far away from the defenders behind him. A calm head that make Saints tough opponents.

CRAIG BRYSON (7)

Very composed in guarding his defenders and breaking forward in bursts to try and set up attacks. (LIAM CRAIG 80, 5. Tried to inspire a late equaliser).

CALLUM BOOTH (7)

Did a good job of ensuring Abada didn’t have much space on the right wing. Stuck to the game plan of sticking to his immediate opponent.

MICHAEL O’HALLORAN (7)

Did a lot of hard work in pressing the Celtic defenders — his pace giving them little time to pick out a pass.

CHRIS KANE (7)

With little service coming his way, Kane kept chasing down the ball and flashed a long-range shot just wide.

Unused subs – Parish (Gk), Muller, Ambrose, Northcott, Mooreland.
