Unbeaten run now at 14 for Maroon Machine

-

KELTY 2 STENHOUSEMUIR 0

Kelty continued their unbeaten league run, which is now up to 14 games, but they had to fight all the way against Stenny.

The Maroon Machine got the start they wanted with a seventh-minute strike after Andrew Black broke away and fed Connor Barron, who hit the back of the net from 10 yards.

Ross Forbes almost equalised in the 15th minute, but his shot was stopped by home keeper Darren Jamieson

Stenny’s best spell came just after the half-hour when Darren Christie came close with a 20-yarder and Darren Christie’s attempt was blocked.

Joe Cardle had a great chance for the home side on 40 minutes, but it went over the crossbar.

Stenny almost equalised just after the interval, but Adam Brown’s attempt went inches past.

On 50 minutes, Kelty virtually sealed the points when Kallum Higginbotham set up Cardle and the Kelty goal ace hammered the ball home.

The visitors had two chances late in the game when Euan O’reilly shot past in the 85th minute and Bernard Coll saw his stoppage-time effort go past the upright.

FORFAR 3 COWDENBEATH 0

The hosts controlled the game in the opening 45, but couldn’t find a way past the stiff Beath defence. Scott Shepherd was twice played through on goal, but was twice denied by the visiting goalkeeper Cameron Gill.

Matty Aitken thought he had found the elusive opener just before the break, when a lovely moved culminated with the striker fizzing Ross Meechan’s low cross off the corner of post and bar.

On 77 minutes, the deadlock was broken when Andy Munro met Luke Strachan’s cross at the back post and powered a header into the back of the net for his third goal in five league games.

Forfar put the game to bed seven minutes later. A phenomenal team move freed Meechan and his cross was headed home by sub Grant Anderson.

The hosts capped an unbelievable closing 15 minutes with a third goal in time-added. Aitken stepped up to bend a free-kick round the defensive wall and into the bottom corner as keeper Gill stood dumbfounded.

ANNAN ATH 1 ALBION ROV 1

Albion came out looking for an early goal and Callum Wilson fired past in the second minute.

Annan hit back and Tony Wallace and Aidan Smith saw their efforts stopped by keeper Cammy Binnie.

In the 24th minute, Annan got the opener when Dominic Docherty hit a great shot high into the net.

Maxwell Wright came close with a header on 32 minutes later and, in the 40th minute, Charlie Reilly’s drive from 20 yards was saved by Gregg Fleming.

Then, three minutes before the turn, Albion were back on level terms when Wilson fired a Charlie Reilly ball home from close range.

The hosts began strongly at the start of the second half and Chris Johnston had a shot saved, then Docherty headed inches past – all in the space of four minutes.

Annan’s Tommy Goss twice came close with headers and Steven Swinglehurst saw his header from a corner saved.

Albion had two good chances in stoppage-time, including a Reilly shot which skimmed the upright.

STIRLING ALBION 1 EDINBURGH CITY 2

Stirling Albion went ahead midway through the first half when winger Kieran Moore picked out Dale Carrick and he fired past Brian Schwake.

Edinburgh equalised in 38 minutes when John Robertson’s penalty had just enough on it to beat Blair Currie after

Ross Mcgeachie had brought down Ouzy See.

Albion were reduced to 10 men with 15 minutes left when midfielder Ray Grant saw red for a second booking.

The visitors won it shortly after when on-loan Hibernian man Innes Murray found the net with a well-taken low shot.

STRANRAER 1 ELGIN CITY 0

Elgin were first to threaten when the ball was worked up the left to Archie Macphee, but his drive from inside the box was comfortably held by home keeper Jack Baker.

Just before the break, Stranraer came close when Sean Mcintosh crossed to the back post, but Dean Hawkshaw could not direct his header on target.

The only goal came just after the restart as Hawkshaw sent in a cross and Craig Ross got to the near post to flick home his first goal for the club.

Elgin should have been level just 10 minutes later, but the unmarked Euan Spark put his header off target.

The visitors’ task got harder on 67 minutes when Kane Hester was shown a second yellow card.

Elgin should have grabbed a dramatic equaliser in stoppage-time, but Spark’s header failed to test Baker.
