HE was loved by the fans at Dundee United, and the players loved him just as much because he came for absolutely every cross. HE was the best right back I ever played with. He was so quick and so athletic, he got up and down the pitch like nobody else, and had so much ability. THE best player I ever worked with – full stop. Dave’s reading of the game was second to none. Strikers hated facing him. I ONLY played with Alex for a few months at Aberdeen but he had a big impact on me. He was strong, a real leader, and a great player to go with it. HE was known as “Psycho” but that does Stuart down a wee bit – he was a very clever player. JOHN and I came through the youth ranks at United at the same time and there’s nobody else I’d pick on the right of midfield. He was so talented. I WAS a naturally two-footed midfielder who liked to pass the ball and could pick people out. That’s the way I loved to play. AS with Alex McLeish, I only played with Jim briefly at Aberdeen, but I felt he was a similar kind of player to myself. We both loved to get our foot on the ball and make things happen. I PLAYED with Ian at Forest and he had the best left foot I ever saw. We used to call it “the wand”. WHAT can you say about Teddy? He was so clever with his runs and his positioning. Defenders didn’t know what was happening when they were marking him. BIG DUNC obviously went on to better things after leaving Dundee United but I played with him as a young guy and he was terrific. Big, physical, scary – he used to terrify the opposition. Then he’d bang in a hat-trick.
