Death doctor’s Jackson book provokes fury

- By Marc Meneaud mmeneaud@sundaypost.com

THE man blamed for Michael Jackson’s death has been forced to defend his explosive book about the superstar’s life – after fans reacted with fury.

Dr Conrad Murray claims he’s publishing the astonishing story to set the record straight about the pop superstar.

Murray was jailed for four years for involuntary manslaughter following the King of Pop’s death in 2009.

Last night adoring Jacko fans reacted with anger – blasting Murray for “profiteering” from the book, This Is It.

But the doctor, who was Jackson’s physician and friend, defended its publication.

He said: “This is the story of who Michael Jackson really was. He wanted me to tell this story – now I am fulfilling his wish.”

He added: “Money was never my motivation.”

He spoke out as thousands took to social media, expressing their disgust and demanding Michael Jackson’s estate take action against Murray.

Super fan Chris Barnes tweeted: “Why would you write a book on Michael Jackson… The person you killed?”

Another 22-year-old fan said: “Conrad Murray was convicted of manslaughter in Michael Jackson’s death. How is it legal for him to sell a book or stories on his victim?”

The book will be serialised in a British national newspaper this week.

Details will shock millions across the world who still idolise the singer, who died, aged 50, from an overdose of prescription drugs.

They include claims Jackson was “betrayed” by a close relative – and that he begged Murray to protect his own family should anything happen to him.

Incredibly, Murray also claims Jackson wanted to marry the 12- year- old daughter of a British friend and fell in love with another 11-year-old.

He writes that the British child actress was just five when Jackson first set eyes on her.

Despite the astonishing nature of the claims Murray refuses to say whether he considered Jackson a danger to children.

He said: “You must read the book and make those decisions for yourself.”

Murray was blamed for the singer’s premature death and served two years of his prison sentence in 2011.

He said his new book was the only true account of the final years of the singer’s life.

He said: “For just over three years, I spoke to him every day and was with him every week.

“This is about setting the record straight. Many things h a ve been written about Michael by people who didn’t know him or understand him.”
