-

Mo Farah celebrates his win but Andy Butchart caught the praise.

“I have never experienced a crowd like this in my life, if I can experience that again in my lifetime I’ll be delighted.”

The London Anniversary Games weren’t not quite as kind to other Scottish Olympians.

Lynsey Sharp came second to fellow Brit Shelayna Oskan-Clarke in the 800m but needed ice treatment immediately afterwards for a bang on the knee.

She reported that it was nothing serious and added: “I’m in good form at the moment and felt good but Shelayna was just stronger than me in the home straight.

“Endurance running is so strong in Britain at the moment and Scottish distance running in particular has come on a lot.

“Laura set a British record last night so there are some good results coming through.”

Also injured was steeplechaser Lennie Waite, who lives in Austin, Texas but is a member of East Kilbride Athletic Club.

She failed to finish after falling and being spiked in a quick race won easily by Olympic Champion Habiba Ghribi.

In the long jump clash of Team GB’s two heptathlon queens, Katrina Johnson-Thompson won impressively as Jessica Ennis-Hill finished a disappointing seventh, departing early after three jumps.

STRATHALLAN Schoolboy George Evans is through to the discus final later today at the World Ju n i o r Championships in Bydgoszcz, Poland.

A bronze medallist at the World Youth Championships in Columbia last year, the 6ft 6in Inverness - reared athlete threw a near- best 57.88 metres to finish fifth in his qualifying pool with the first four going through automatically.

The 18-year-old Scottish Schools hero then had an anxious wait for the second group to finish but eventually went through in 11th place out of the 12 qualifiers.

Injury hit fellow Scot Cameron Tindle in his bid for a medal when he was forced to withdraw from the sprint relay final due to muscle tightness.

In his absence the British team finished sixth in 39.57 secs.

The 18- year- old Edinburgh AC flyer had finished a close up seventh in the 200 metres final in 20.82 after twice beating his personal best in his heat (20.78) and semi-final (20.71).

“Having come here ranked 13th and finished seventh with two PBs - I can’t argue with that,” said the Berwick- based Scottish senior champion.
