Miller time has been a real education

-

Last season he was watching star men like Jamie Vardy, Riyad Mahrez and Leonardo Ulloa at Leicester City.

But he insists that Rangers’ veteran Kenny Miller is the daddy of them all when it comes to educating a young forward.

The 21-year-old turned down a new contract with the English Premier League champions and other offers from English clubs in favour of joining Mark Warburton’s side.

It’s a decision that he believes is already paying off – thanks to 36-year-old Miller.

He said: “You can take so much from Kenny.

“He’s one of the vocal lads in the changing-room and he’s great for young players.

“You know you can pick his mind.

“You can watch him in training and he’s also constantly contributing in the video analysis.

“He comes up with points that sometimes you might not have seen.

“You may have to look twice to see what he’s spotted.

“He’s always trying to teach everyone, tell everyone what he sees.

“That’s what is great about being here. Everyone is so passionate and wants to learn.

“He’s very vocal in training as well.

“It’s amazing to have a player like that with so much experience. I can learn so much from him over the time.

“I’ve been here for a month. Imagine how much I’ll have learned from him by the end of the season.”

Although Dodoo only made four appearances for Leicester last season, he believes being around a club that achieved a remarkable title success was invaluable experience.

He went on: “Being at Leicester last season was amazing.

“At the start of the season it was just about staying up. Then all of a sudden you’re top of the league.

“Then it was Christmas, then January and we were still there.

“The good thing about it was I saw how everyone reacted. I saw how the manager handled it and that was a great experience for me.

“No-one felt pressure, everyone was relaxed, normal, laughing and not thinking about the title.

“Week in, week out, people were saying: “We’re not going to lose. We’re just going to fight to get the points.’

“That’s all it was. There were no magic tricks.

“The lads were together and they weren’t afraid of anyone.

“To see that was great. You can go for anything, not hold back and achieve great things.

“Leicester will do really well again this season.

“I didn’t play enough games to get a championship medal. But, hopefully, I can get one this season with Rangers.

“The only goal we have this season is to win the league to get Champions League football.”
