KILLER WAR HERO IN PRISON ESCAPE PLOT
PRISON chiefs have foiled an elaborate escape attempt by a war hero serving 25 years for one of the country’s most infamous murders.
Michael Ross planned to saw through the bars of his cell window after stealing a grinder from a prison workshop. Amazingly, he replaced it with a wooden replica he’d made himself so he wouldn’t arouse suspicion among warders. However, the former sniper, who was jailed for killing waiter Shamsuddin Mahmood in Orkney, had his plan rumbled.
