Harrington in the mix for first Euro title in eight years
Scots Paul Lawrie and Marc Warren have their eyes on the prize in Portugal.
Scotland’s Paul Lawrie, champion at Carnoustie in 1999, is just a shot behind the Irishman on 16- under- par, following a third-round 65.
That’s added to his opening pair of 66s, alongside defending champion Andy Sullivan and his fellow Englishman Chris Paisley.
A further shot adrift is resurgent Scot Marc Warren, while England’s Callum Shinkwin and Scotland’s Stephen Gallacher were then in the group on 14-under-par.
WELSHMAN Stephen Dodd will take a two-shot lead into the final round of the Senior Italian Open Presented by Villaverde Resort after carding a seven- under- par round of 64.
Dodd, who made his over-50s bow at the Senior Open Championship in July, is nineunder- par at Golf Club Udine after his round which included seven birdies and an eagle.
