Winter chill will be worse than 2010

-

IT’S time to dust off your thermals!

The man who predicted the great winter chill of 2010 says this year is going to be even colder.

Internet phenomenon Windy Wilson has amassed more than 150,000 followers online and has built up a reputation for his accurate – and often comedic – forecasts.

Millions of Scots will be hoping he has it wrong this time, however, as he predicts there’s going to be a colderthan-usual November.

Windy, who refuses to reveal his real name and even calls his wife Gusty and son Wee Windy, said conditions could mimic those from 2010, which brought heavy snowfalls and record low temperatures.

He said: “Early indications show that we’re going to be in for a colder- than- average November. You’ve not heard them yet, but it won’t be long until the TV people start talking about the polar vortex and blocking highs.

“Listen out for the Greenland block or the Scandinavian block.

“Early signs indicate the polar vortex is beginning to split, and there’s an extensive snowcap over Siberia, Russia and Scandinavia already.

“This normally, but not always, stops the Atlantic lows that bring mild, wet and windy weather coming in and allows cold easterly air in from mainland Europe.”

Windy, who lives in Auchterarder and runs a manufacturing business as his day job, added: “Remember 2010? Is the beast fae the east awakening from her slumber I wonder? Only time will tell.”
