Historian David Irving has been ostracised in academic circles – and even jailed – for his denial of the Holocaust.

But, in a fresh controvers­y, it’s now emerged the Essex- born Hitler biographer has now set up home in the former house of one of Scotland’s most decorated Second World War heroes.

The widely criticised writer, 78 – now the subject of a major Hollywood film – is using the luxury Highland hideaway as a base to write a new book about one of Hitler’s leading henchmen, Heinrich Himmler.

However, the Sunday Post can reveal the rented mansion he has moved into in Nairn used to be the home of soldiertur­ned- politician Gordon Campbell, who locals say would be horrified at the current owner’s controvers­ial views.
