“A massive, massive thing is your senior players,” said the Hoops’ assistant.

“A s a m a n a g e r, Bre n d a n has developed very good relationships with leadership players and captains – like Garry Monk, Steven Gerrard and now Scott Brown.

“These are people that can relate to Brendan because of the way he is. They respect him.

“Scott is a perfect example of a leader in the dressing-room.

“Every single day, even in the warmup, he is at his maximum.

“He is one of the best trainers I’ve ever seen. He matches up to the worldclass players I have worked with in terms of mentality.

“He is well- respected, and the players follow that as well.”

Brown is someone Davies sees as a future manager.

But until that day comes, he will continue to play a role in implementing the on- pitch improvements Rodgers and his assistant are driving towards at Celtic Park.

“We have work to do this season still, but then we will step back and look at what we can improve on in terms of how we play,” said Davies.

“In terms of personnel, we have to ask ourselves if there is anything we need to tweak tactically, and things like that.

“We will focus on those performance aspects and then roll them out when the players come back for the new season in the summer.

“It will be about how we can get to the next level.”
