Big Yin in emotional TV appeal

BILLY CONNOLLY moved viewers to tears as he made an emotional Comic Relief appeal for cash to treat Alzheimer’s and dementia.

The 74-year-old was diagnosed with Parkinson’s disease in 2013 but has continued to tour – despite his failing health.

He asked viewers to donate money to a charity which supports people with the devastatin­g illnesses.

But he couldn’t resist throwing in some of his trademark wit, telling the camera: “Hello, Billy Connolly here asking for your cash. Not for me obviously. I’ve got cancer and Parkinson’s and I definitely need a haircut but no...”

The Scots legend recently announced a tour of England and Wales this year.
