Wants Gers in the final

it before the game and I just said I was concentrating on helping the boys through to the Final and I would take it from there.

“Obviously it’s a great bunch of boys at Celtic so I wish them all the best.

“But sometimes you have got to be a bit selfish!”

As a contracted Celtic player – and a boyhood fan – Christie would have been watching today’s game anyway.

Now there is a medal on the line, he has no idea how he will feel come kick-off. “I’m not too sure,” he admitted. “Either way it’s a win- win because they’re a good bunch at Celtic and they are having an incredible season.

“For them to reach a final, I would be happy for them.

“But at the same time I would like to play in a final myself!”

Having notched an audacious freekick for the Dons yesterday, he has certainly earned his place.

The midfielder beat Hibs’ goalie at his near post from a narrow angle to put Aberdeen 2-0 up in the first half.

But he revealed he may never have tried were it not for a timely word in his ear.

“When I first stepped up for the freekick I was going to cross it.

“But Adam Rooney had a word in my ear and told me to have a look at the goalkeeper. He was trying to read a cross.

“The wall also split at the last moment, which helped, but Adam has to take credit for an assist there.

“I always look for things like that at free-kicks. I practice them every day and I’ve got Barry Robson helping me who was a free-kick specialist back in the day.

“It’s nice when they come off.”
