Rodgers hails season

-

BRENDAN RODGERS believes Celtic can celebrate a brilliant season even if they lose today’s semi-final.

The Parkhead boss expects his men to emerge victorious at Hampden but is adamant the outcome won’t define his first year at the club.

Celtic fans are desperate for Rodgers to deliver a treble. But he maintained there have already been major achievem e n t s, not least clinching the Premiership title and qualifying for the Champions League group stages.

He said: “The perception for me is pretty clear, whatever the result is. “We have had a brilliant season. “There’s lots of room for improvement but I look at the landmarks over the course of the season after coming to the club.

“We achieved Champions League qualification, which Kenny Dalglish said was like a trophy in itself. That isn’t too far off the mark.

“To qualify was an achievement.

“To then convincingly beat a very good Aberdeen team in the League Cup final, win the league with the points margin we have, to be unbeaten and break a Lisbon Lions record is phenomenal.

“Sometimes things might go against you that you can’t control, but what I can control are my thoughts and ideas of the season so far.

“We have a chance to make it an absolutely historic one but before a ball is kicked today, the players have been brilliant and it has been a nice step
