Make United regret getting him fit

-

the wrong time for me. Everyone is looking forward to a break but I just want to train and play.

“If I keep doing stuff over the summer and get myself a good pre- season, I think it will benefit me massively.”

Templeton insists today’s high stakes will not spook Accies.

“Of course, there is more at stake but the boys are just treating it as a normal game,” he said.

“We want to go out and enjoy ourselves because when we do that, that’s when we play our best.”

Accies boss Martin Canning insists he won’t use scare tactics to avoid a relegation nightmare.

Asked whether he would spell out the consequences of a plummet into the Championship to his players, Canning said: “I don’t think we need to.

“I’m not going to scaremonger any of the players into: ‘You need to do this,’ or: ‘You need to do that,’ and: ‘If this happens, then these are the consequences.

“It’s a game of football. It’s a home game against Dundee United that I would expect us to be motivated enough to go and play.

“There will be a big crowd, it’ll be an exciting game and the team who handles the pressure of both games best will win.

“I thought going to an intimidating place on Thursday night, we handled the pressure really well, and we need to do that again on Sunday.”

Accies could be hamstrung today by the loss of a number of key players.

Darian MacKinnon is suspended, while Massimo Donati and Dougie Imrie are both injury doubts.

United, by contrast, are close to full-strength.

But Canning insists Friday’s game proved to his remaining players how hard they will need to work to secure their Premiership status.

He said: “One thing our boys will always do is dig deep for the cause. They’ll fight hard,” he said.

“We have to make sure we do that one last time here. It’ll be a tight game, there won’t be a lot in it and we need to make sure, first and foremost, we have a team on the park who can go and compete.

“Once we do that, then we just have to play in a similar manner to the way we did at Tannadice.

“We need to get the ball down, pass it and create opportunities.

“I thought first half we were excellent, and if we’d taken one or two of the chances we created, it’s a different game.

“We didn’t, and it stayed tight right to the end of the 90 minutes.”
