Chris Millar. CHRIS MILLAR knows the clock is ticking on his days in Europe.

So the veteran St Johnstone midfielder plans to make the most of it.

After a week- long training camp at Largs, the Perth squad are looking for ward to tomorrow ’s draw f or the Europa League qualifiers.

Millar said: “I’m really optimistic and really looking forward to it.

“I’m 34 so I don’t know if I will get a chance to play in Europe again.

“We still talk about the Rosenborg game ( when Stevie May’s goal in 2013 gave the Saints a 2-1 aggregate win).

“That was brilliant for me, a real career highlight.

“So let’s aim high and look to make the group stage.

“It will be difficult but let’s have a positive mindset.”

Tommy Wright’s men had just 19 days off b e f o re beginning the build- up to another European campaign.

Millar said: “It’s been a short turnaround but everyone is upbeat.

“I had to leave our family holiday early, and the two wee girls were a bit upset. But you have to get back into work.”

The midfielder is keen to avoid another long- haul, like the gruelling trip to Armenia two years ago.

“I would like to be close so home so fans can see us play,” he said

“They loved the away days in Luzern and places like that.

“The heat at this time of year can kill you in some countries, so if you are drawn away from home, you want a positive result.

“We usually get a really big crowd at home and that pushes you on.

“The European games are special. It is different from the Premiership and that captures the imagination.”
